Size factory battery storage by kW and kWh. Review BESS price drivers, PCS/BMS/EMS, backup autonomy, peak shaving and solar integration in Vietnam.
QUANGANHCONS · PV & BESS COST TOOLS
Industrial BESS Sizing and Cost Estimator for Vietnam Factories
Start with discharge power, useful energy and the operating duty. Review the different economics of peak shaving, backup and PV time-shifting before requesting an integrated storage quotation.
Before you price a project: Use real load and site assumptions. The result is budgetary and does not expose internal procurement discounts or guarantee project performance.
Screen Solar + BESS with the QuangAnhcons tool
Storage is an optional module within Solar Quick, not a standalone BESS offer. Select the battery/storage option in the tool; final PCS/EMS and safety decisions require engineering review.
Power and energy ratings answer different questions
A nominal 200kW/400kWh battery describes a two-hour energy-to-power ratio; 400kW/200kWh describes 0.5 hours, before usable SOC, DoD, efficiency and thermal restrictions. A buyer who only requests a ‘1MWh battery’ has not specified the PCS continuous power.
Peak shaving requires interval-demand history and dispatch strategy. Critical-load backup requires a load list, starting currents, transfer philosophy and reserve energy. PV shifting additionally requires the solar generation curve, inverter/EMS integration and local import/export constraints.
Sizing must account for degradation and operating limits
At the screening stage E_nom ≥ P×t/(η×DoD×SoH) may be used when terms are consistently defined. For an illustrative 200kW load, 2 hours, η=90%, DoD=80%, SoH=90%, nameplate energy should be at least roughly 617kWh before other reserves.
The example is not a quotation or approved battery choice. Confirm rated PCS output, C-rate, temperature, round-trip losses, SOC reserve, cell chemistry, battery warranty and availability of spare equipment.
Commercial BESS scope extends beyond cells
The RFQ should separately identify the battery racks/containers, BMS, PCS, EMS/SCADA, HVAC, fire detection and protection concept, transformers, MV/LV distribution, cables, civil works, lifting, commissioning, site acceptance and operating training.
Ask suppliers to define usable AC energy, cycle and capacity warranty, performance testing, degradation methodology, maintenance, safety documentation and end-of-life responsibilities. Quoted VND/kWh is misleading if delivery and controls scope differ.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a 1MWh BESS installed in Vietnam?
A credible quote requires PCS power, usable energy, cycle duty, chemistry, warranty, fire strategy and electrical works, not only the advertised kWh.
Will a 1MWh battery supply 1MW for one hour?
Not necessarily. Continuous PCS output, C-rate, SOC limits, usable capacity and conversion losses must support the duty.
Can batteries be installed without solar PV?
Yes. The economic and operating rationale must be assessed independently against actual tariffs and plant load.
Is this a dedicated BESS product pricing tool?
No. This landing page uses the optional storage portion of QuangAnhcons Solar Quick; final BESS design and tender quotation require project-specific engineering.

Send your project details, BOQ or drawings to request a formal quotation. Fields marked * are required.
Quotation scope
Applies to one EVN-supplied substation with oil-immersed transformers at 22/0.4 kV (single-phase: 12.7/0.23 kV), with MV metering VTs/CTs supplied by EVN. The estimate includes the selected equipment, installation, earthing, transformer-to-main-breaker connections, design and connection documentation, and coordination of testing and utility acceptance.
Kiosk, integrated steel-pole and indoor substations include MV switchgear and the entered underground cable route. Other outdoor arrangements use the relevant protection configuration. The final diagram must meet the project connection requirements.
Excludes VAT, cables from the substation switchboard to the MSB/loads, live-line work, harmonic reactors, weak-ground treatment or special piling, land and special fire-protection provisions. Underground routes assume normal construction conditions and exclude road drilling and special reinstatement.
Prices are indicative investment budgets. A formal quotation follows site assessment and agreement on the configuration. Electrical selections are preliminary and require design verification before installation.
Capacity range and application conditions
The catalogue defines the enquiry range of this tool, not universal TCVN capacity limits. Single pole-mounted transformers: 15–100 kVA; three-unit banks: 3×15–3×100 kVA. Platform substations: 100–630 kVA. Steel-pole substations: 100–630 kVA; 750/800 kVA require design verification and local approval. Ground-mounted, kiosk and indoor configurations: 50–10,000 kVA. Not every configuration has a package price or the same structural design.
Reference: EVN Decision 1299/QD-EVN dated 3 November 2017, Volume 1, sections 3.3–3.4. Check the current requirements of the responsible utility before implementation. Kiosks must meet manufacturer ratings and testing requirements (IEC 62271-202); indoor and ground-mounted arrangements must meet project layout, ventilation, structural and fire-protection requirements. For multiple transformers, specify the quantity and capacity of each unit.
