2x2500kVA Transformer Substation Project for RVN Fibers Company – Successfully Completed with High Technical Standards


1. Project Overview

The construction of a new 2x2500kVA transformer substation and a 22kV power line supplying electricity to RVN Fibers Company at Nhon Trach II – Loc Khang Industrial Park, Dong Nai, is one of the key projects undertaken by Quang Anh Construction Electricity Company Limited (QuangAnhcons). This project aims to ensure a stable power supply to meet the factory’s high production demands and has been implemented under stringent technical standards from design to execution and commissioning.


2. Technical Specifications

The project includes the following key components:

  • Transformers: Two 3-phase transformers, 2500kVA, 22/0.4kV, meeting EVN’s Decision 20 standards with:
    • Power loss: Po ≤ 1,850W, Pk ≤ 21,000W.
    • Short-circuit voltage: Uk ≥ 6%.
    • Warranty: 12 months.

  • 22kV Power Line: Installation of CXV 120mm² and CXV/SE/DSTA 3x120mm² cables over a total length of more than 200 meters.

  • MSB Panel with ACB 4000A and 1000kVAR Compensation System:
    • Mitsubishi ACB 3P 4000A with a short-circuit current capacity of up to 100kA.
    • Dry capacitor compensation system of 1000kVAR with 12-step automatic adjustment using Himel capacitors.

  • Earthing System:
    • Installed with 12 copper-clad steel rods (D16x2400) arranged in a grid, including two 30m-deep boreholes.
    • Ground resistance is maintained at ≤ 4Ω as per TCVN 7447-5-54:2015 standards.

3. Project Implementation Process

3.1. Survey & Design Phase

  • September 23, 2024: QuangAnhcons’ technical team conducted a site survey with representatives from RVN Fibers and IDICO. The survey covered topographic measurements and the assessment of substation and pole installation locations.
  • Based on the connection agreement signed on September 16, 2024, between RVN Fibers and IDICO, detailed design drawings were completed, ensuring compliance with technical and safety standards.

3.2. Material & Equipment Preparation

  • All materials and equipment were carefully imported and underwent strict quality checks, including:
    • Medium-voltage cables by Cadivi, Himel capacitors, Eaton automatic circuit breakers, etc.
    • The 2500kVA transformers from Sanaky were carefully transported from the factory to the site.
  • Detailed construction plans were developed, including work registration and safety measures.

3.3. Construction Phase

  • Pole and Recloser Installation:
    • October 7, 2024: Erection of poles using V75x75x8 beams and installation of 24kV insulators.
    • October 8, 2024: Completion of the 27kV NOVA27i Recloser installation with accessories such as 18kV lightning arresters, FCO, and control cables.

  • Transformer Substation Installation:
    • October 10, 2024: Installation of two 2500kVA transformers on the foundation, with connection to medium and low-voltage systems.
    • Earthing rods and 50mm² bare copper wires were installed to ensure ground resistance met standards.

3.4. Testing & Technical Acceptance

  • October 24, 2024: Completion of installation and technical testing of the entire system, including:
    • Insulation resistance measurement and voltage testing for medium-voltage cables and transformers.
    • Inspection of protection systems, ACB, and compensation systems.
    • A technical acceptance report was signed by all relevant parties.

4. Energization & Commissioning

  • December 26, 2024: The transformer substation was officially energized and commissioned, with the participation of:
    • Representatives from RVN Fibers.
    • Representatives from IDICO – the local electricity management authority.
    • QuangAnhcons’ technical team.
  • The entire system operates stably, meeting all technical and safety requirements.


5. Safety & Maintenance

  • Operation and maintenance procedures were provided by QuangAnhcons, adhering to EVN standards, with detailed guidance for RVN Fibers’ technical team.
  • The earthing and protection systems were designed to maximize safety and minimize risks during operation.
